A journey for two · Summer · Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe
Three to four nights. One lake. A love story slower than the water.

1 Nevada · Las Vegas → Reno-Tahoe Night 1 at Edgewood
Arrive into the quiet
You board a JSX hop-on jet in Las Vegas — no terminal, no lines, a cocktail before you've even settled into the seat. Forty minutes later the desert has given way to pine, and a private car is waiting to carry you the rest of the way. The drive climbs, the air changes, and then the lake is just there — impossibly blue, impossibly still. Edgewood meets you right at the water's edge. Check in, pour something cold, and watch the light go gold over the Sierra. There is nowhere you need to be tonight.
Ask for a lake-view room facing west — the sunset from the terrace is the best welcome the trip has to offer. Dinner at The Edge if you want a table with a view worth lingering over.
2 Nevada · Lake Tahoe Night 2 at Edgewood
A day that asks nothing of you
Wake slowly. Coffee on the private beach while the lake is still glass. Today has no schedule — a lounge chair, the pool, the spa, whichever calls loudest. Spa Edgewood was built for exactly this kind of surrender, treatments drawn from the mountains around you. If he needs to move, the lakefront course is a five-minute walk and one of the most beautiful eighteen holes anywhere, water on more sides than seems fair. When the sun starts to drop, cross over to Stateline — a little risk at the tables, a little luck at everything else. Getting lucky tonight won't be the hard part.
Book the spa early in the day — the good afternoon slots go fast in summer. Brooks' Bar & Deck for a lower-key dinner before the casino, if the tasting menu two nights running feels like too much.
3 Nevada → California · Heavenly + the Lake Night 3 at Edgewood
Up the mountain, out on the water
The resort shuttle carries you straight to Heavenly Village — no driving, nowhere to park, just a gondola waiting to lift you above the tree line. The lake gets bigger the higher you climb, until the whole basin opens up beneath you. Down at the base again, lunch is wood-fired pizza and cold beer on the patio at Base Camp, the mountain still at your back. Then the water calls the rest of the afternoon — jet skis off the beach, or a slower private boat tracing the shoreline into coves the road can't reach. You come back sun-warmed, salt-free, already not wanting to leave.
The gondola gets crowded by midday in summer — go up right after breakfast if you want the ride to yourselves. Reserve the boat or jet skis a day ahead through the resort concierge.
4 (optional) Nevada → Home Fly home from Reno-Tahoe
One last morning by the water
If a fourth day makes the cut, spend it exactly like the second — coffee on the terrace, one more swim, nothing on the agenda but each other. When it's time, the private car retraces the road to Reno, and JSX carries you home. The desert lights come up on the descent, and you're still faintly smelling of pine.
Three nights is enough to feel unhurried. Four is enough to forget you were ever anywhere else.
"Some of the best trips are the ones where nothing happens — on purpose."
